Frequently Asked Questions

Which appointment should I book if I’m new?

If this is your first appointment with Menopause & Me, please book an initial consultation. This allows sufficient time for a comprehensive assessment of your symptoms, medical history, current treatments, and goals. Follow-up appointments are tailored after this initial review.

Can I discuss both menopause symptoms and weight concerns in the same consult?

Yes. Many patients experience overlapping concerns. Your initial consultation allows us to prioritise your main issues and determine the most appropriate ongoing care plan. In some cases, follow-up appointments may be recommended to address specific areas in more detail. Please select Menopause Initial Consultation to ensure adequate time to address your concerns.

What is the difference between a video and phone consultation?

Both video and phone consultations provide the same standard of clinical care. Video may be preferred where visual assessment or screen-sharing is helpful, while phone consultations can be suitable for follow-ups or when video access is limited. The choice is yours, where clinically appropriate.

Do I need a referral?

No referral is required to book an appointment. You are welcome to attend for an initial assessment, review of existing treatment, or a second opinion.

Are Medicare rebates available?

Medicare rebates apply to eligible menopause and hormonal health consultations. Rebates are processed at the time of your appointment, and you will only pay the out-of-pocket cost. Weight management consultations are privately billed and do not attract Medicare rebates in most cases.

How soon will follow-up appointments occur?

Follow-up timing varies depending on your individual needs and treatment plan. Many reviews occur around 4–8 weeks after an initial consultation, though this may be adjusted based on clinical requirements.

What happens after I book?

Once your appointment is confirmed, you will receive an intake form to complete prior to your consultation. This helps ensure your appointment time is used efficiently and focuses on your specific concerns.

Can appointments be changed or cancelled?

Yes. Appointment changes or cancellations can be made in accordance with the clinic’s cancellation policy. Please refer to the booking confirmation email for details.

Is telehealth suitable for menopause and weight management care?

Telehealth is widely used for menopause, hormonal health, and weight management consultations. Where investigations, prescriptions, or referrals are required, these can usually be arranged electronically. If in-person assessment is needed, this will be discussed during your consultation.

Getting ready for your appointment

The Patient Health History Intake Questionnaire and Consent forms must be completed before your appointment. Please complete these when booking online or via your appointment confirmation email. If you cannot find them, check your junk mail in case they have been redirected there.

What Happens Next?

During your appointment, your practitioner will discuss your health history and goals and develop a personalised treatment plan. Be sure to:

  • Complete your intake form before your consultation (if this is your initial consult)
  • Ensure your device can accept calls from private/unknown numbers.
  • Be ready at your scheduled appointment time to take the call in a private and quiet environment.
  • If your appointment is via video, please join the meeting at least 5 minutes prior to ensure that you are ready

Please note that while our practitioners make every effort to run on time, occasional delays may occur. In such cases, we kindly ask that you remain available to receive a call within 10 minutes of your scheduled appointment time. Please also be aware that your practitioner will call from an unknown number

Medicare Eligibility – Check if you qualify for Medicare Rebates

From November 1st, 2025, Medicare rebates for telehealth are only available under specific conditions

Please note: Perimenopause, Menopause, and Sexual Function concerns fall under the Sexual/Reproductive Health exemption and are eligible for Medicare rebates

❤️ Sexual/Reproductive Health – BROAD Exemption

Medicare created an intentionally broad exemption for sensitive health issues. If weight is affecting your sexual function, fertility, or reproductive health, you likely qualify for Medicare rebates without a prior face-to-face visit.

Weight affecting fertility/sexual function – If weight is impacting your sex life, libido, or fertility, this likely qualifies.

⚠️ Disaster Zones
